How does a team of passionate musicians and game developers merge the promise of teaching how to play an instrument with the fun and flow of a well-crafted game? Along with progression updates, rewards and star-studded videos, the newest installation of the Rocksmith franchise chose to challenge the existing marketspace by partnering with the biggest music licensors in the industry to offer a wildly ambitious library of songs. With the help of machine and aI learning systems, players would be able to play literally anything they wanted to, as well as dig deep into a uniquely tailored experience.
As Lead and then Experience Director, my job was to help set, communicate and then shepherd a consistent vision of the player experience with the development team. I built and fostered a full stack, global department responsible for taking the front end of the project from conception to prototyping, development, production, launch and live operations.
During the live phase of the product, I worked with the team to utilize findings from research, data science and player input to inform the direction of the product to push for higher retention and satisfaction metrics.
